Guilty Pleasures.......

Ok, to participate in this is gonna take some huge balls, even if you weren't born with any. ;)

So, name one of or a few of your "guilty pleasures" defined as doing something, liking something or watching something on TV that you would rather not have anyone else know about because you may be a bit embarrassed if they found out.

The interesting thing about this is that in most cases, you will find that you are not alone.....

Of course, my balls are not big enough to go first.....

I have a dirty habit of taking an hour off in the afternoon to watch the Real Housewives (it's on every day here, seems to be constantly cycling between OC and New York, and I'm watching some episodes for the second (or even third) time). I am not gay and fairly masculine in most ways. I don't feel it watching housewives. This is the first time I have shared this with anybody. And I've shared it with the world, lol, albeit anon.

oh, also I love reading conspiracy type articles from questinoable news sources and various wackos on the internet. And about space things that I cant quite comprehend like astrophysics, black holes and dark matter.

I dont know why, it just is very interesting.

caseball2051,
High?! mine are too many to mention! I cant work out how to embed youtube vids from my phone but please check out "Tim Minchin on Guillty Pleasures at the melbourne comedy festival" (its the one where he's standing in front of a blue background. Also check out "cheese" which is the song that directly follows the guilty pleasures spiel.

I like that too, but wuldn't call it a guilty pleasure, ike talking about it too(mostly the 2nd part, but I also like talking with people who actually believe those conspiracytheories, to probe how far their beliegs go and why they think it)

the only guilty pleasure I can think of roght now is sometimes, if I'm pretty stoned, I like watching jersey shore, constantly giggling(not with them, at them)
but usually it doesn't last longer then 15 minutes, and also hasn't happened in a while. I don't deliberatly look for it, but when I'm stoned and start zapping and it happens to be on I keep hanging for a while

sometimes I like to do the same with those shopping tv-shows(with ridiculous products like some kind of blender to chop up turkeymeat into a paste, the guy blends it and turns the thing to the camera, showing the disgusting-looking meatpaste, and then says 'doesn't that look delicious?')

and a genuine guilty pleasure: peeing outdoors. I grew up in a rural area so always have been used to peeing outdoor, I have no idea how it is for cildren in other areas but in my case it was normal that when we were playing on the playground, and you had to pee, you just went behind some trees wich surrounded the playground
and I still enjoy peeing outdoor, much better as standing in a small enclosed space looking at a tiled wall. but I can't do it often anymore, but if I arrive home at night I sometimes make a detour past a tree in the backyard
or when I'm driving home at night(on my bicycle) I choose a nice tree to stop at
and my best outdoorpeeing experience ever was on a boat, in a harbor of one of the islands of the netherlands, I think it was terschelling. there the water lit up when disturbed, probably some micro-organism, but maybe ot was just a special reflection. anyway I think you can deduce the beauty of this experience from my mention that the water(of the sea) lit up when disturbed. after I was done I enjoyed myself some more by pulling up a bucket of water to throw back

Ahahah I have to share this one! I live on the other side of my own bridge across a river, and I often, often stop the car mid-bridge on my way home and get out just to pee off the bridge into the water, even though it's on my driveway and a few hundred yards from home. And even when I'm at home I'm not beyond walking out the door for a wee- But I live on a farm and it's 5 yards from my front door to a field that's full of week old lambs at the moment, so a bit of my piss is neither here nor there. I'm as much of an animal as these farmyard creatures surrounding me lol

If there is any Star Trek on the TV, either TOS, TNG, VOY, DS9 and ENT OR any of the movies, TOS or TNG, I always watch it.

And.....I can quote most parts of every TOS and TNG movie, and TNG episode.

I also did a Star Trek roleplaying game, on the same ship, for over 10 years, and I LOVED it!! :D

I did dress up as a TNG doctor ONCE for a contest, and I won a REAL Klingon Bat'leth! Yes, it's real, sharp, and proudly displayed on the wall. :D

Yeah, this next part will probably make me really sound like a geek....

At our last CON, we were fortunate enough to meet Brent Spiner, Robert Picardo, Bruce Boxleitner, and Stan Lee. (Yes, I love Babylon 5 too.) We had our pictures taken with all of them, and had them sign the pics as well. Those pictures are now framed and hanging up, adding to the big Sci-Fi collection we now have. (I can't wait to go see The Avengers)

My favorite part was meeting Brent. He is SUPER nice, and funny as hell. He is now doing a Web series called "Fresh Hell." It pretty funny. I'm at the part where he is teaching porno actors HOW to act.

First thing I thought of when I read that, djonk, was this >> :lmao: http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/bassomatic/229056
luckily I'm properly vaped while I watched this:lol:
but I swear, that what I said was an actual thing I saw on tv once, not a parody. that turkeypaste was meant as base for some kind of other thing tough, not to be consumed as raw paste. but they did drop actual turkeyfilets in a thing very similar to a blender and blended it to a paste and say 'doesn't that look delicious?' while showing that blended meatpaste

and a while ago I saw a video online of 10 worst/funniest products from shoppingchannels, and I discovered the shakeweight from south park is an actual product...

But to get more specific:

There's something really satisfying about getting medicated, then jumping into a nice hot shower...

We had a kinda record drought for like 10 years not too long ago, so We've had water restrictions for quite a while.

That makes a nice long shower qualify as a guilty pleasure, right? ;)

I'm also a sucker for late night infomercials... They're just so unintentionally hillarious.
"Just set it and forget it" (but it cooks in only 2 minutes, if I forget it, itll get cold )
"Wow! This Flavorwave really seals in the juices" (As spoken by Mr. T, after eating a piece of steak that looked... less than desirable )
"This knife can cut through a sledgehammer... Watch!" (who in the hell is cooking a sledgehammer casserole?)

EDIT:
thinking about it, my music choice is kind of a guilty pleasure.

I loves me some metal . (that smiley couldn't be more appropriate)
Most people think metal = insane satanist douchebag, so I'm not as open with it as I could be.
(having said that, half my wardrobe is the typical "metalhead stoner" gear... Black, Band T-Shirts, mostly bought at the concert [I'm wearing a Metallica Shirt right now ])

Would you want your tax accountant running around listening to Heavy/Speed/Power/Thrash/Melodic-Death Metal?

Another EDIT:
Another not-so guilty pleasure of mine is gaming...
If you think my collection of glass/vapes is good, You should see my games/consoles :D

I listen to metal too but not a guilty pleasure at all for me :p
I grew up with metal(mother+uncle listen to it too), first music I ever listened too and still what I mostly listen to. music never played a really big role for me, only started listening to music when I was 10-11 or so and I have kind of settled now, not really looking into new bands etc. and a lot of very well known artists I only know by name but wouldn't be able to recognise their music
my group of friend used to be mostly metalheads too, but is now more diverse. one of our regular meetup/hangout spots is still the local metalbar tough

I think the sledgehammer test is worthy tough, if your other kitchen apliances are also from teleshopping half your food probably ends up as hard(and tasting like) a sledgehammer, and the other half is liquid(from blenders/juicers

unfortunat;y they don't broadcast teleshopping at night here, only in the afternoon. at night most channels broadcast sexcommercials(for those phonelines), and one or 2 broadcast 'astrotv'. and then a few, like comedy central, just broadcast reruns at night. but ther audience is probably more likely to watch at night(like me)

I may do or like many things that are frowned upon by some, but to be honest I don't really feel guilty or ashamed about any of them.

I guess that's mine.

I do enjoy the peeing in the wild as well myself. What Djonko forgot to mention is that it is considered illegal in the Netherlands. If the cops catch you do it you can be fined up to a 120 euro's. A buddy and I actually ran away from the cops once because they wanted to fine us for this. I think they followed us for a block or two but couldn't really be bothered to continue after that. We both wetted our pants while zipping up while already running, but we were going home anyways, and saved ourselves a good buck and got a good laugh to boot :)

Yeah I'm not ashamed in the slightest to appreciate all forms of metal. If some teenager wants to give me "the look" while I'm blasting Behemoth or Mastodon I give it right back because that's how I feel everytime nikki minage comes on the radio.

Have to admit however, I have a soft spot for Taylor Swift and American Idiot is one of my favorite albums of all time, which I don't understand why so many people find that weird. We need more progressive and storytelling albums back in the limelight, even if Greenday is a little questionable as a whole.

Also, Final Fantasy 6's Ghost Train Scene with Cyan makes me bawl like a little girl every damn time, EVERY damn time; and I'm not usually a crier (few other tearjerkers in that game too, brilliant game).

I dont know why, it just is very interesting.

Sometimes when I'm high I enjoy watching either "Ancient Aliens" or "InfoWars Nightly News" on my Roku. Only reason this could be a "guilty" pleasure is due to the public scorn and ridicule this would engender but if half of what Alex Jones says is correct we are in trouble. Also once a long time ago I put a used condom that I had tied up in my friend in the building's mailbox as a joke. Before that, when I was a kid, I put itching powder down the back of a neighbor at his Bar Mitzvah during the photos.

didn't mention that because outside the city that's not a problem :p as a kid I heard that 'wildplassen'(peeing outside) was only prohibited in the 'bebouwde kom'(city/village limits), no idea of that is actually true but even if it isn't, it practically is since you never see any cops here, unless someone called them. and one car sometimes with new year's eve.
altough I sometimes pee in the city too, but that's indeed more risky. neve had cops coming after me fpr that. only had a parent after me(and some others) once as a kid because we all peed off the slide:lol:
some fleed on bikes, and me and one other hid in some bushes, from where we could see that parent asking around for us. had to go by her house to get to my house, but that other kid I hid with had to go eat dinner earlier and took the fall for me.

didn't know it was 120 euro tough, more as I thought... I heard tough that if you are caught you should say you weren't peeing but masturbating, since the fine for public masturbation is lower
but maybe they changed that, just like the famous police-insult trick(around here we have persistent rumour that a cop can't fine or arrest you for insulting a cop when you declare it as your opinion, so instead of 'you are an idiot' you say 'I think you're an idiot', but that doesn't work anymore. there was a case tough were a man who called a cop 'mierenneuker'(antfucker) won, since 'mierenneuker' is in the dictionary as one who whines about small things(can't realy explain it..)

djonkoman,

I think you explained 'ant-fucker' quit well, lmao.

I had to look up what the current fine for 'pissing in the wild' is btw. Back when it happened the officers shouted 'that will be 50 euro's a person gentlemen' to us before we started running. In all fairness to those cops though, it was in the middle of town. We were pissing of the bridge right next to the pancake boat.. :smug:
