Everyone, please quit the negative thoughts and do something for yours

Take a flippin break would ya? When was the last time you took a 24 hour break (if you pause for more than 2 seconds it's been far too long)???? How about even a 12 hour break???? For some of you, it might come natural to only medicate once a day. Be it right before you settle down into bed for the night or when you wake up, it's all the same. For others, like me, it's purely recreational and I can't imagine life without the blatant as well as not-so-blatant up-lifting effects and advantages provided by MJ. But really... be sure you abstain at least one day a month. One day meaning 24 hours consecutively, but push for more if you can, 36 or 48 is perfect.

That was my main message to you all, here's the story behind that little tid-bit of info.

First of all, ONE LOVE! :peace: Have love for yourself and feel it from with in, and share only to those who also DESERVE it.

So as time goes on, here we all are given the things in life that keep us busy; be it your job, kids, wife, girlfriend, school & school work, medical disabilities, injuries, diseases .. who knows, the list goes on for miles & miles but here a huge majority of us sit, smoking daily, AS we all end up doing. So we all share this same lifestyle, and therefore are blessed with these same negative thoughts after the days, months & years of continued smoking multiple times a day, with hardly any missed periods of time greater than 12 hours. Are you still in the same majority as me?
Just do it, it's easier than you think. Take a 24 hour break, but remember to stretch it out as long as possible, and post back about how you feel.

If I wasn't so stoned I'd let you all know for sure.. but I couldn't wait any longer. My head was definitely more clear though after the about 36 hours of forced bed-ridden sober time due to my flu-like symptoms. But I'm feelin better and I'm back on the purple-days vape combined with my SYN showerhead.

And if you smoke cigarettes quit for yourself as well, it's so fucking stupid. LOL at all of you who knowingly admit that it KILLS YOU (not can, it DOES KILL YOU), yet you still feel the need for it. If you like the nicotine that much, get an e-cig you noodle. Believe me, I understand cigarettes as I've spent my fair amount of time with them. October will be 2 years and I still regret ever starting. (I smoked for ~3 years)

Also, check out www.eatwild.com and www.marksdailyapple.com if this thread interests you. I am not affiliated in any way but getting healthy intrigues me. I refuse to eat like everyone else in America, so I instilled change :brow: (although I am sure this unhealthy diet is shared among many countries).

With regard, go take a flying jump off of a short peer :) Said purely tongue in cheek of course.

However, there is not a chance in hell I am going to take a 24 hour break when I use MJ to cut down on arthritis pain/inflammation. Regular meds for this condition....can't take em.

Negative feelings/thoughts/behaviour? Generally no, I'm not that kind of person.

In summary, I think it best left up to an individual as to how often/frequently they use.

Tom

[edit; I've noticed that you recommend a 24 hour break once per month. Is this for the purupose of lowering tolerance? Hopefully you're not advocating that anyone stop taking medication]

Yeah, TDavie I was just about to say the same thing. Quite a few of us are older hippies who enjoy the recreational side of it but are also dealing with worn out joints, chronic pain, and stomach problems from conventional analgesics. I started a break a few days ago in anticipation of a drug test for a job I am applying for and it has been tough. I had forgotten how difficult it is to sleep with a throbbing shoulder. May have to just blow off the job or take my chances...

I think in the case of what you are trying to get across, keeping your opinions to yourself may be the best choice. Because I'm younger and don't need marijuana for medicinal purposes I find myself taking multiple 24-48 hours long breaks multiple times during the month, yet I am not going to tell other people what they should be doing if their method works for them. I have also never smoked a cigarette, yet I know how tough it is for addicts to kick the habit. They are probably frustrated enough with the addiction without someone telling them the habit is "so fucking stupid" and for them to just "use their noodle".

I'm looking forward to seeing some more sound and productive contributions to the forum from you in the future SacaLaMota.

Saca, I'm sure you mean well, but handing out advice when it hasn't been asked for typically doesn't sit well with most people.

Despite the fact that I use cannabis daily, as medicine for pain and inflammation, I still take regular breaks. I always go a week at a time.

Who gets that heated at people he doesn't know?

Eek, maybe you should just keep vaping to take that edge off...

Yeah, I've been vaping just once a night..........about 3 to 4 hours before bedtime, but recently, I've been trying to vape once every other night. The nights I don't vape, I don't sleep very well. This may subside though after doing this for a month or two. What I have noticed though, is that I do get a bit higher on the nights that I do vape, rather than just vaping every night.

Well, I for one agree that I should probably take a break. However, that's really only for tolerance reasons, and the growing appeal of sobriety. Even when I'm sober I still feel impaired from all the THC in my bloodstream

On the other hand, I'm not a cigarette smoker myself, but that seems like very simplistic advice to those who do smoke. It's not easy to quit a substance that your brain craves so much that it will literally shut off your reasoning capacity until you satisfy it. Also not everyone wants to use e-cigarettes, or perhaps they wont receive the same satisfaction that another may. Besides, most people who do smoke fully understand that they probably shouldn't be smoking, but they just do not possess a big enough desire to quit completely, and that's comprehensible considering how it stimulates one's brain.

If I'm not mistaken it takes 7 times on average to quit, that's madness!

When I was younger I tried some of the heavier duty stuff classified as narcotics. The absolute worst drug to kick was tobacco. Not only does it cause horrible cravings and physical withdrawal symptoms, but it's absurdly easy to get and people are using it all around you.

Totally agree. And I did everything except using needles. That for me was crossing a line I never wanted to cross. But for me, tobacco was the hardest to quit.

i hear that but i did cigars and pipe tobacco for a while, plenty of them and quit (well, i rarely use it now) entirely cold turkey when i started vaping. i know others who have done the same with that but for cigs, rarely do i hear that...more reason to think them nasty things are so bad for you. guess im trying to indicate a difference in tobacco and cigs, not that i think the leaves combusted is a great thing for you either.

im pretty sire im off topic but i think there is a chance i am not and vaped just the right amount to offer something. however, i think this is how this thread got started...hmmm. :peace:

^^ Yeah, there was a lot of talk of tobacco companies spiking their tobacco with substances that would make them more addictive. Don't think this was going on with pipe tobacco and cigars. I smoked cigars and pipes at one time also, but I never deeply inhaled like I did with cigs. That too, makes a diff.

If you smoke tobacco in a brier pipe enough it's the same. I remember as a kid watching my dad, who was a heavy pipe smoker, go through horrific withdrawal symptoms. And he would manage by supreme effort to quit and then go back to it a few months later. Over and over.

I feel like everyone here is so quick to pick words apart. The guy is giving information because he really believes taking breaks is much better for your quality of life, I see no reason to get mad like a few first replies sounded like. I agree with the OP, breaks are important(although I havent taken one in almost a year now :uhoh: ), so if he's only trying to better the lives of internet posters he doesnt know, I don't see how people are gonna start saying they don't like info when not asked for. This guy cares to help people he doesn't know, he must be a good guy, maybe just a little too stimulated causing the mildy crude choice of words.

I did not mean my response to be a put-down and I wish the OP well. I only wanted to point out that people's situations and reasons for vaporizing may be different.

I don't understand, I take a break every night when I sleep

But honestly I think it all depends on the individual. But a good week long break here and there is always worth it in the end. Usually my breaks happen when I'm too busy to relax and get high, not by me forcing it.

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
Personally, I just read it as a somewhat preachy commentary of his new found self enlightenment that "works for him" following what is normally a restless virus known as "the flu".

It's not difficult to realize that an emotional state can be quite positive and REAL at any given time following a period of proper rest (the mind included). Then to be invigorated and followed by that "after break" first hit, it would/could be cause enough to create an emotion to self warrant wanting to come online (lifted) and share the "discovery" with compassion that others may interpret to be meant as gospel spouting.

Let him have his enlightened moment.... he really brings nothing to the table to "debate" his findings other than a personal "feeling" and now his belief.

Frankly, I'm having my own emotional feeling right now........ it's "mehhh", some guy found something that makes him feel happy and nothing he said personally affects me, is dangerous information, nor blatantly attacks or wilfully insults another individual of concern.

I just said..... ok, whatever......

<< just sayin

I think the OP is making a lot of assumptions about the populace based on what goes on in his/her mind. We all have negative thoughts from prolonged mj use? What negative thoughts exactly? You say we all are "blessed" with these thoughts yet this is the only mention of negative thoughts. What negative thoughts are you having and why do you attribute it to mj use? Are you thinking of hurting yourself or others? Are you a pessimistic or cynical type?

And

Doesn't everyone have negative thoughts on occasion? Some may have them more frequently due to their life situation or other factors (mental illness).

Some people are just negative. I've known a few people like this. And at least one that I'm thinking of now never touched mj in her life. She's very negative about it. She's just has that kind of attitude.

Personally, I used to be very cynical about some things (including pre-mj use). Over the years I have become much less so. I actively worked to change my attitude because I felt that cynicism was an easy cop out. None of this do attribute and blame or credit to mj use.
