Line the acrylic. Watch out for wood species. Most makers line their wooden stems with stainless tubing all the way to the VC receiver.

I turn my own stems from Flowering Quince shrubs. A species I trust as a 1-piece all wood stem.

Thank you
I epoxy my blank to a brass tube. The only problem I have with wood alumalite or acrylic is blow out because I go to thin.
My preferred finish is a seal coat of zinnzers shellack and 3 coats of GF water-based Poly then buffed.
I would like to see some of your work. I have not tried to turn smaller branches.

See if you can find some stainless steel 8mm or 5/16" ID. Brass still has traces of lead and vape people really hate that shit.

I like the Shellac except for the IPA damage. I like that it is easily removable. I finally got some real bee's wax. Still haven't found a universal solution I want to live with. It has to be natural for me.
