Everyone is all excited about the new prince or princess that will be born to William and Kate. Does America care? Some folks do and some don't. What's with bringing out the Golden Easel to signify that the birth has happened. All the ceremony.

I don't think Everyone is excited at all. Although I'm Welsh not English, we sadly share the same Royals. Hate the whole idea of Royalty. Just because the media portray it like we'll all be out waving union jack flags and cheering, doesn't make it so. Imo, the Russians had the best way to deal with Royalty. When your royalty goes all the way back to the 9th Century, you've got a lot of tradition. When England was as old as the U.S is now., as a country, the date was about 1100.

The only advantage I see is not having to deal with presidential elections every 4 years. I have also read the queen owns 1/6th of all land on earth but still has a hard time paying the heating bill for the palace? wierd.

We are still part of the Commonwealth, so she is our head of state. However, she cannot exert any power over the country. Our Prime Minister used to have to ask the Governor General (her rep on our soil) if he can call an election. I think that may have changed.
Regarding the OP, there are royal family supporters (monarchists) all over the Commonwealth and beyond. I don't begrudge them at all, just not my cup of tea....

@t-dub Hey mate. Its not really like that in Aust. either. Technically a lot of government land is property of the Crown but it would be a real stretch to say the Queen owns that land. It has more to do with the complexities of our legal system and forms of government.

CNN says the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate) is in labor. I wonder if it will be a prince or a princess? We know what will be on CNN nonstop at length until the new royalty is born. Hopefully it will go fast being a second baby and all.


This is where they will announce the birth. The "Golden Easel". Maybe the Baltimore murder of Gray by the cops will overshadow the news coverage. With the news the cops are being arrested and charged with murder.
