Buying my first e-nail or something similar- want to do it right the first time

I've been wanting an e-nail for a while, and I am just about set on a high five LCD model with a quartz banger. Tired of dealing with a torch and sometimes getting hot dabs and sometimes getting too cold and wasting oil. I have already did a little research and read somewhere that it was a good idea to get an axial coil, but im not sure why. Also wondering the pros and cons of quarts vs hybrid vs a ti nail setup. I tend to dab 6* live rosin and at low temps (unsure of actual temp, used to using a torch) i usually get the perfect dab, but occasionally get a hot one or wait too long. If there's a better or less clumsy solution to this than a enail setup i am open to other ideas. Is highfive a good brand to buy, or is there better brands out there? I was also thinking of just getting a laser thermometer but that just adds more trouble to the hassle of dabbing which im trying to make easier somehow. Anyway thanks for responses. I am big on quality and buying things once for life instead of buying junk that breaks in a few years or less.

I'd probably pass on a High Five setup as their controllers and coils have a different pin out than the standard "Dnail" coil layout.

An axial coil is basically a barrel coil that extends the wraps down the bottom to cover both the bottom and sides of the banger. Would most definitely recommend the axial over a barrel coil for a Quartz banger.

As far as pros and cons, Ti setups will be the most durable, IMO Quartz is more "pure." Personally I'm a "glass" guy and don't really want metal near my 6* but it is personal preference.

I run a MaxVapor controller with a 710coils 25mm Quartz banger and axial coil, and a 710gems 19mm faceted sapphire insert. That's what I use for rosin and melt.

The MaxVapor controller has a lot of features, one of the cool ones is you can do an "uptemp" that starts low for max flavor, then ramps the temperature up for complete extraction, sort of like a cold start dab. Nice tool in the arsenal for terpy live rosin.

Some people do like the torch + thermometer setup, honestly I've never really tried torching with a thermometer, I usually do a cold start if I'm torching so I don't have to time anything.

I'm pretty lazy though so for me, flipping a switch on the enail to my desired temperature is my preferred method, though the torch will give you a faster hit. The enail takes a little longer to heat up, but if you do multiple dabs per day you only have to wait for it to heat up once. If you're bored of timing your dabs and refilling the torch you'll probably like the enail.

I really like that controller, its really nice. the aluminum is pretty rugged and has a nice appearance too. I wouldn't mind using one of these. I've been reading a lot of people seem to like the 710 coils. With their deep dish being posted a lot around the forums lately from the reading ive been doing. I would almost pull the trigger on one of those maxvapor controllers like you have with a 710 coils 30mm deep dish if they had that in stock. Seems to be in high demand. I am going to seriously consider that controller recommendation. I appreciate the detailed answer.

If you preorder one from the next batch you can snag one for just $199 - price drops when you add to cart! It's very small and sturdy, I've had a handful of different controllers and can easily recommend the MV.

Not sure on the availability of the deep dish coils, but @710Coils probably has some insight.

Happy dabbing!

I didn't notice the $100 off that makes it a done deal for me. I just preordered one. Hopefully find out on the 710 coils coming back in stock soon too. They said expect around june 1st for shipment or delivery for the 1.3 model. Looking forward to perfectly heated dabs. Thanks for the info!
Same here brother, I'm a sucker for a good deal. They always seem to pop up when I want to try and save money, however. Since coils are sold out at the moment I'm deciding on whether it should be for an e-elev8r or a banger setup. :hmm:

I would like to call one thing out when shopping for a controller. Most are wired differently than the coils being sold be me and other coil companies. This means you are stuck to whatever came with the unit or trying to rewire the unit and this is not as easy as it might sound.

So when shopping for an enail always make sure the company is willing to post their wiring layout for the coils and controllers. Otherwise you will most likely end up with a paperweight once you realize it cannot work with everything as expected =)

Hey guys I've had my Max vapor email for a couple of months now and I have been loving and it's a lot better than smoking with a torch and a nail for sure having that set temperature that you have the perfect every time is great. My question is when I turn it on and it starts to heat up I notice it goes about 45 degrees over the set point and then slowly goes down to set point over a minute or so later. I've tried using the profile calibration option and doesn't seem to make a difference, are there any specific PID settings I should be using with the 710 coil? another comment I wanted to make was that the unit has improved itself over the firmware updates has received since it's release. Which is cool. I'm sure I can get this sorted out I just need to get it figured out and I'm a first-time or so this is all new to me
