Onward Thru the Fog
mod note: This thread is the result of topic drift in the TetraLabs California: GoldPen thread, so it doesn't get immediately to the subject. Do not be alarmed. Remain calm at your screen and all will become clear.
I haven't noticed any difference in PG over the past year. And I've also tried a few "e-cig" attys, none of which give the flavor that I get when using one of my DARTs. That said, the "bud" atty (version 4 from GotVapes) has come the closest for me (in taste), and I must admit, is MUCH more convenient. The next closest one I've tried with PG is the GotVapes Nano, which has a nicer mouthpiece and slightly less restricted draw than the bud, but has a slightly burnt taste all the time, and is harder to fill without making a mess. Maybe the burnt taste is due to the Nano's lower resistance (1.8Ω versus 2.2Ω for the bud). The Nano is also much harder on my lungs.
Vaping PG really requires low wattage, and none of my mods go much below 3.3v. I vape PG at that voltage, and wish I could (easily) try 3.0v. Higher power in any of my attys makes for a harsher, more burnt tasting, and more lung busting hit. For me, the "secret" for good PG vaping is low power and short duration (~2 sec) hits. A two second draw gives me a monster hit, with a monster vape cloud on exhale. Also, I've found that PG expands in my lungs more than anything I've ever done, including dozens of different (pressed) hashes; if I keep hitting until I feel I've had enough of a hit, it's always too much. Don't know if that's the case with all purified concentrates, as all I've done is PG.
I just got back from a four day business trip, and one bud cart filled with PG, along with a tiny eGo 450mAh battery (~3.45v), served me and my friends wonderfully the whole time. Really easy to load with no spilling or hassles, instant warm up, zero leaking, including the two times I had it in my pocket on the plane, and both the load (just under a gram of PG) and the battery lasted the whole five days. No burnt taste at all, and I could still taste the hint of d-limonene all the way to the end.
Edit: I want to edit what I said above about a two second hit. What I should have said is two seconds of powering the coil. I only hold the eGo battery power button for two seconds, but the hit itself is longer (maybe 5 or so seconds).
