Yeah, I would think the most convenient way to use the AVLP would be to load it directly, forget the caps and screens, carry a brush, dump the AVB, spend 5 seconds brushing it clean, and be done. Because you're gonna have to deep clean it eventually no matter what. So you might as well make it as convenient as possible rather than creating extra work for yourself just to vape a load PLUS still having to deep clean it.
That's how I use mine but I wish the dosing capsules were better cause this thing is kind of a bitch if you're using it on a trail or such. I still love mine, and my mind gets blown every time with the super cool vapor. Still can't wrap my head around it. With that being said I do wish the dosing caps were more user friendly. Hope this all makes sense. I had a alp bowl, a tm2 bowl, 2 xl anvil bowls and then I had a bowl in my b1 so if I'm not making sense I sincerely apologize

This morning I took my ALP out and cleaned it. I took some really fresh herb and I loaded a nice chunk in the chamber and I got my bong. I got my water adapter and went to work. WHAT FLAVOR! I swear...I cannot get this flavor with any other piece I own and let me tell you...those 'other' vapes and gadgets are marvelous...but, my ALP is just DIVINE! It works so well with my bong....big robust hits and FLAVOR as well. I am just so happy. It truly is the only vape you need. Well done Airvape....well, done. Thank you.

PS There is no mess...after the hits I got this morning. IT IS A PLEASURE TO CLEAN IT!

I got my dosing capsules early this year (I ordered the day they went live, first batch). I have used them frequently enough that I fill them every two days (filled and emptied 40-50 times total). They have been getting harder and harder to open, they got to where they were impossible to open without the pick tool, and now, even with the pick tool, some can't be opened without and a good grip and twisting hard enough that I'm sure they're getting damaged.

I thought at first I just needed to clean them more, but now I'm sure it's just the damage to the super fine threads adding up. After a full clean they work better, but are still sticking and seizing up unless I only screw it on a tiny bit.

They desperately need a redesign, because to have them already becoming flawed doesn't seem right. I'm pretty careful with them, I'm careful to line up the threads by backing them out until they click, but that gets more unreliable as they get more damaged, to the point where that trick doesn't work so well anymore.

I'm figuring that I have another month or two at this rate before they're done for.

Anyone else who got the first batch of dosing caps having issues with them? How often to you empty and fill them? Are mine just from a bad batch? I'm curious how yours are holding up.
I still use the capsules. Still a fan, probably because capsules make for easier transport and device loading when on the go. I keep about 4 loaded capsules zipped in the small rectangular zippered pouch that came with my small RYOT HeadCase. I would keep using them for transport even if I decided my preference for loading the device is to empty a "fresh" capsule directly into the bowl. That is not my preference though, not so far. I only used my device maybe twice before deciding to wait (and wait) for the capsules so the bowl in my device looks almost pristine.

My least favorite part comes when I try to replace the lid on a capsule just after dumping the AVB into the little Ziploc thingy. Pretty sure this part is hardest bc this is an act most likely to happen while I am stoned lol. Have taken to just zipping the used capsule back in the pouch to empty later.

In short, this sucker for capsules is doing fine. Except for a short hiatus caused mainly by user error :D, the ALP is still my primary device. YMMV. I offer this opinion in response to a direct question and not to deny or undermine anyone else's experience. Will I buy redesigned capsules? Without question - ngl, I am a SuckerForCapsules.

This was the answer! THANK YOU!!!

Thanks, but this forum proved way faster LOL Thx @vandalizedbythelotus !
To be clear, my description of the problem omitted an important detail: I had forgotten to replace the the lid that holds the tool and covers the battery/glass tube :D. The ambient temperature issue was the result. With the lid in place, the device operates in both modes without difficulty.

[NOTE TO MODS: Thank you for merging my previous posts. Would have amended my answer via "Edit" but cldnt find that option in the merged post. ]

Would love to know how to clean the two damed "blind spots" between the small grid to the glass tube and from the glass tube to the mouth piece. These are arguably the two wrong things on this design. Those silicone pieces should be easy (or possible" to take out for real decent full cleaning.

I have never taken those two rubber things out because I read here a few threads ago that this would be a terrible idea. What I bought was this very thin and pointy wooden stem ear swab...its long and fits perfectly, it does not have lots of cotton on the tip so, I am not afraid of losing cotton in there. It is just enough to clean or push up any Debree...not much in there to tell you the truth. If you clean regularly, that space should not be that messed up. The Firefly was easier to clean because of the glass design on the lid...fantastic. I do wish that the inside of the ALP was just more simple....but, it is what it is...which for me is great.

Cleaning the ALP is becoming a little less arduous. I steam clean the bowl. I turn the temperature to about 400F and using a wet q-tip, turn the vape with the bowl facing downward. Then, I use the wet q-tip circling the bowl upside down. Viola, the bowl and the little screen next to it cleans up nicely. Just steam. I love this vape. And the steaming seems to cut down maintenance time and hassle.✌️❤️

in my experience, water does not cut resin very well and water steaming it for a few sec, does not seem to be as effective as cleaning with 91% iso.
i always clean my unit's oven areas and airflow path when it's warm but not hot.
i guess we all have our own ways through experimenting.

I agree...I do not waste anytime anymore. Straight to the alcohol and alcohol pads...fast and easy. My other vapes that require stems get a really nice boiling water bath and it works. I bought a test tube rack where I place them in to dry. Works great. My stem in the ALP was juicy with a nice thick gunk...looked like honey...in order for me to clean that easy...soak it in alcohol. Works all the time.

Or you could heat it up with some cream or some half and half until the resin dissolves in the fat and have a super tasty nightcap. Or add it to your coffee. Yum!
Are you kidding me? Or is this something I can actually do. I thought that was the waste and unusable. Please tell me true. I am very new at this.

If you are talking about the glass tube in the ALP then yes sir my good man you can most certainly do this. 🙂 Glass is great at making the ALP taste amazing but it's a double-edged sword. It's a super neutral compound so it doesn't interact with all that delicious vapor but it is really good at cooling things. That goo that's stuck to the glass is just vapor that condensed too quickly and didn't make it to your lungs. After a few uses, the deposits build up and ... voila... it's concentrated cannabinoids or just a concentrate to generalize.

Heat it with heavy cream or half and half (requires fat to absorb the cannabinoids) and keep it under a boil until all that yummy amber goo dissolves in the liquid. Then you can add it to whatever you like! Be warned though, the effects are like an edible so they take time to take effect and they can be really strong depending on how much sticky goodness you had on the stem. Enjoy!

Edit: you could also just scrape off what you can with a tool and add some to a regular bowl in a weed/resin/weed sandwich or on a concentrate pad. It's the gift that keeps on giving!

I just love that point ! every thing roasted can be eaten - with benefits !

I often clean my grinder in warm fat milk with a toothbrush… I'm a coffee fan and a big latté on sunday morning just makes my day ! :D

I did an ISO cleaning for my ALVP glass tube, and i although clean my vapes with 99 ISO, and when my ISO-jar goes dark, i open it and let it evaporate 'till there's only some resin left in it...
Try it and you'll find something clever to do with that goo ^^
I usually use natural cotton (NON-BLEACHED !!!) and a small bit of goo in a vape and BOOOM ! Clouds, clouds clouds… n' couch-lock ! :D :D :D

My goodness! I certainly appreciate this...you are very kind to write back. I will do this and share this info with my son. I am so happy right now...something new and exciting to try. THANK YOU! Gosh, I love this board and all of the support. Thank you kindly.

If you looked at my photo in my signature you would think I was a pro or something...but, I have all of those vapes because those are the ones that are recommended here! My son and I share a hobby...we are in diapers when it comes to vaping. But, thanks to individuals like you we are learning.

Sorry to pester, but are you saying you need a gum brush with iso for cutting the resin, and dry Q-tips for the final swab / iso cleanup?
Would it be ok to just use Q-tips for both of those functions? They are bendable. I thought Q-tips were the only thing Troy was using to clean those areas in his AVLP review video...

i only recommend those q-tips i put a link for. i break them in half and clean the glass tube holes and rubber grommets that hold the g. tube. put iso on the tips. then follow with gum brush system because they will be some cotton fibers left behind from the super q-tips.
usew iso on the Gum or Reach brand brushes and brush will pull-out those left over small amt cotton fiber pieces, if any is left in there..
the super Q-tips will get most of the thick resin when used with iso. twist the q-tips for best results. regular q-tips will get large amt. of cotton stuck those holes and angles. brush gets out the rest

Awww you're making me blush 😊.

You're most welcome. Picked up the habit from back when I owned an OG Arizer solo. The glass stems would have tons of reclaim and, well, because they're glass there's no problem putting them in a pan with milk and cream. So amazing that you can clean your stems and get a nice concentrate as a food. It's a good time to be alive, no?

Wow...its amazing to me at how soo different are peoples likes and Dislikes !
I absolutely LOVE the Smell of cannabis(if they made Cologne from it, I would drown myself in it), but, the Taste/Flavor of it sends me to the point of Gagging !!! I would rather kiss the Northbound end of a Southbound Skunk than Ever having to Taste it !!
When I read that people put Reclaim in their Coffee, I become Nauseous at the thought.
To each their own. Glad people are resourceful. Made many a Flower/Reclaim sandwich in my vapes with great enjoyment !

I have the legacy SE I used a tight pack with the bowl adaptor and a med rough grind it takes 3 scoops tightly packed then the vapours always cool 168c and it's a great device it does eat batteries but I have plenty so that's ok it's pure convection and it never needs a stir clean with with a tissue while it's still hot blow through the mouthpiece with the door open and your good to go again it's now my goto vape so nuff said no water needed and works great it's important to keep the airway rubber circle free of debris so tyt loading and clearing it then close and 5 mins later toasted ville i find you can get two 5 cycles then it's time for a reload

you can slip over some types of whip tubing and put it over standard mouth piece and use the whip directly. it's a nice hack

Sent in my issues to AirVape and received some replacement dosing caps. Most are okay but one of them arrived broken. It opened fine but once it was loaded and closed it could no longer be opened, and it wound up being permanently damaged in the process. I am not happy with the dosing caps, and I'm not happy AirVape released it in this state, it's like they never even tested them.

yeah, if i use their cap i remove the lid when i drop in oven and put a 15mm stainless screen over the oven's bud/or dose cap's top. works great better this way
