I have noticed the same thing even on some that are unused. Mica is not stable. But, I love my Vapman and use it about 20 times a day, every day.

I dont soak, just wipe...same for Sticky Bricks and Doug's Woodery. Doug's Woodery recommends using ISO, by the way on all their wood. Stocky Brick recommends hot water.
I use ISO on the screen, midsection and mouthpiece then small bit of damp(water) magic eraser in the bowl. No issues. Had an olive one for a year or so of daily use and weekly cleanings.
