You coukd get a single flame kitchen torch that can stand on its own, and has a safety lock to prevent accidental usage. I have 10 thumbs, but this type of torch doesn't worry me. Also, a leather piece to handle a hot cap helps on any butane portable.

I've been awaiting a cap that actually clicks for mine. That, and some of the issues you mentioned, in general. I may have to ignore my VAS one more time, and order a Tempest in March. Limitations and all, the Dynavap is a "finished product." I think that justifies its price and popularity...

I didn't submerge it with ISO, but cleaned it out with a qtip with just a drop of ISO after the combustions.

OK, tried with the smaller triple flame lighter that comes with the Dynavap kits. This tip won't click, and I'm just combusting flower at this point. Might as well just smoke a J.
