I would say it's safe to brush the coils as the ceramic pot sometimes hits the coils at weird angles when reinserting. I haven't felt weird about it. They seem very sturdy in there.

Same! To me, that looks like a slightly over packed fine/medium grind load to the top with an abnormally high temp for the zx (other metal ball vapes tend to need more heat than zx) so, it was probably just an inexperienced session. Obviously just guessing here. Does Jerry post here on FC?

I get the issue, but I kind of like picking a good booger size of reclaim from the catcher to add to the top of a fresh bowl once a week or so. It's like a waiting game, is it really ready yet??
