Yeah, I do that too. It also helps quick cool the oven so I can load it straight away for a second bowl! The other day I accidentally loaded the tip of the PFE with herb, pulled it out and it was all sticky with condensate mmmmm. Must have been baked lol

Mine has been fine since I bought it so I would say go for it. Batteries are in good supply now I believe so no issues there either :)

Yes VAS is very real! Anodised ones did wear and the ring from undoing the clip is real but I could be tempted to buy an extra one, they look cool!
