Ok, so i think figured out whats going on... either 115v isnt enough voltage or a 50w step down transformer isn't enough for some reason, i may need 100w or 120v. I went over to my friends to try plug it in to mains without the step down transformer after reading this thread. It worked and burnt...

I'm using under 0.5... under what is seen in this video at 3:43. the airflow drops off way quick from say 0.2g to 0.3g. once you suck it just compresses everything, rendering the airflow to be really low. Remember this is mint leaf as well as mullein so the herbs are pretty loose.

The unit was left on for over half an hour. The step down transformer 115v/220v rater at 50w. Yes I can still test it any time. It seems the device will slightly brown/toast if it is left for 5 minutes standing still, but if you keep puffing then it won't even go brown, it just stays green.
