    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Sorry, mine is being shipped to FF for repair. To my eyes, the enlarged holes are about twice the size of the originals. Probably a lot bigger than yours, though, because I took the plate out. It's also possible my mod mal-shaped the plate a little. The assembly seems to only put moderate...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Looks like I may have ruined my FF. I took it apart to clean the screen, and decided to widen some of the holes with a hammer and needle. I enlarged about ten holes. To my eye those holes are now about as big as those on Lozo's screen. But the flow is incredibly free now -- about like my Plenty...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Me too. You'd think FF had thoroughly tested hole-size ramifications, but maybe Lozo out-engineered the company. The holes, in effect, get smaller with use. They look pretty good through the orange glow, but needle cleaning improves the draw. But it's a pain, and I've already had to do it twice...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

I was on the fence about the FF2, knowing how finicky the FF1 could be, but after I got used to it I'm glad I got it. In fact, I find myself enjoying it almost daily now. But you're right, I do sometimes get the urge to use one of my other vapes instead.

I've been leaving mine on the charger routinely because that's what FF recommends in their instructions. Is it proven that your method is significantly better? Is FF just trying to get us to wear out our batteries?

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Okay, thanks. I've been confused because the bottom plate is almost touching the oven plate below -- which is what makes it so hard to stick a needle through. Seems like any force (such as a tack hammer) could damage the plate below. But maybe I'll give it a careful try next time I'm clogged.

No, I sandwiched shavings in between top and bottom layers of flower -- but, of course, the stirring allowed the broken-down hash to settle to the bottom. I did this a couple of sessions before realizing I was just about fainting trying to draw any air from even a clean chamber.

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Do you have to take the FF apart to do this? I've been having serious draw restrictions myself lately, probably due to trying out some hash. I was initially fooled because I could see a glow through almost all the holes, but after a lot of (difficult) needle work, heat, and upside-down ISO, I...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

You're totally right! I did not see that. In fact, you made me realize I never actually downloaded that manual -- I just picked up instructions and tips from chat forums. What's missing from their guide, then, is how to clean the gasket (or how they can expect people to avoid ever touching that...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

I have brushed the gasket, lightly, with 70% alcohol pads like those supplied with the FF. It does get sticky and picks up little bits of material. Did I miss something in the instructions that warned us not to touch the gasket with pads? All I remember is how quick and easy it was to clean...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Do most FF2 users actually get months or years of normal use without the gasket going bad? Mine came loose so easily -- and then started to tear -- that it's hard to imagine any of them surviving routine cleaning. Regardless, Vape World is sending me a replacement lid (after I sent a photo of...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

OK, just wanted to see if this was common. I get it after just two draws -- a near-perfect black circle. Meanwhile, I've been catching up on old posts about FFs with gasket problems. Ugh. Mine is just a couple weeks old and the gasket is already coming off. I'll bet Firefly's rude responses in...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Mitch, this rings true from my experience as well. Which would explain why the Plenty (for example) tastes consistently pretty bland, while the FF has such great moments of flavor, followed by yuck. Other vapes fall in between on the spectrum, depending on the specific design of their chambers...

Flavor... Hoping to compare notes to see if others experience similar trade-offs. Now that I'm getting a pretty good assortment of vapes I'm noticing certain patterns. (I use a medium-high quality herb, typically stored at 60-62 percent relative humidity.) It could be said that my new FF2 has...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Last night I finally had a really satisfying session with my new FF. Partly because of a tip here up-thread about drawing more vigorously. But I think my main stumble was packing too tightly. In my defense, I thought I was following FF instructions -- filling slightly above the bowl's brim. But...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Ok, good to know the buzzing is normal. I'll keep working on my technique. Yeah, I do think I was loading it too full at first. Coming from larger-capacity vapes I also have to remember I won't get as many good hits with the Firefly before it goes sour. Thanks!

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Quick question: if you hold the mouthpiece close to your ear while the coil is heating up, should you hear an electrical buzzing noise? It's not usually loud enough to hear during normal use, but it's very clear when holding close to my ear. Sounds like a high-pitched transistor or something. I...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

That was my feeling. (Yes, I would have had to switch to the FF2 warranty.) The Vape World rep agreed with those who think the app access is pretty necessary, even if just for firmware updates. Maybe someday I'll return to another version of FF. I sure will miss the flavor of those first couple...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

thanks stickstones, it was a tough call, but now no one seems to know where the reported stash of old FF1s is, so I had to make a quick decision based on new choices (since they were not able to repair the motherboard on my old FF1): either upgrade to FF2 for $100 or receive store credit at Vape...

    The Firefly 2 vaporizer

Thanks Jim-Bob, I'm still going through the return process, and your post almost changed my mind (as I'd pretty much decided to keep the FF1). But after checking the Google App store it seems pretty definite that I won't be able to use the app at all. Sounds like no firmware update, and no power...
