Hey dude is that just a random plumbing fitting you use to adapt the VG classic bowl for a water pipe? I tried to rig up something myself with an old metal pipe bowl, but the threads were off by a fraction :(

I have to agree with the above folks, I love the stock straight stem. I have a nice Ed's stem I use as a "little black dress" basically to impress my friends lol, but daily driver I like the straight glass mostly for maintenance reasons. Best add-on imo is a PV GonG.

To me the sponge analogy makes the most sense. To get the liquid out of a sponge you wouldn't smash it on the counter with your palm, you would ball it up in your hand and squeeze. Same principle here I think..
