I was initially thinking of beeswax but I prefer the idea of using a drying oil. I really like the hempseed oil and consider it one of the Hot Pod's unique features, so I don't have any plans to change.

Leave it on any voltage you like. I've said from the outset that these pods are designed for 24/7 high temperature operation ;)

Have you been leaving the pod plugged in continuously? That's the best way to evaporate off any remaining oil. I'm surprised you can taste anything at all though.

Unless there are obvious signs of wear then there's nothing you need to do. If you can get hold of some hempseed oil then that would be ideal. Maybe give it a light coat once a year by rubbing a small amount of oil in with a clean rag. I think it would be best to do this while the pod is cold...

Some good soldering tips there. I have to admit when I first started soldering (admittedly I was only about 12 years old) I did find it kind of frustrating. While I don't want to dampen anyone's interest in gaining a new skill, I think that trying to resolder the plug would be a bit of a hassle...

The only thing I can think of that would break is the resistor. I don't think 14.3V is too much for it though. I've had one running at 15V for several days with no problems. Let me know what you can find out and we'll get it sorted.
