In addition to the good advice @Mr. Me2 threw at you, I've found getting the DC's out of the unit and emptied helps as well as keeping the cleaning unit clean. I will say that mine never smells "skunky", but more of abv, which most non-vapers don't recognize.

Another cleaning method I just saw (forget what thread) used a hydrogen peroxide contact cleaning solution and it's disk. I haven't had the chance to try it yet, but I will!

I'm just going by what I've got and seen, but I thought all the OEM Pax2 lids were plastic? I know my OG Pax had the metal lid inside, but that was also the norm. Feel free to jump in on this if there were changes made in what was being shipped out please.
