The glass stem will help you. It is leaving the abv a bit lighter and the taste is back. I haven't played with the screen placement yet, but I think it came in the perfect spot.
So far, this thing is a beast.
I might have the same situation on my hands. I think I almost combusted a couple of times. No ash, but very dark abv. It seems to affect the taste some, but the vapor I'm getting is insanely dense. More later.

The 2nd link has a video. You load material into stem, put stem into vape, inhale. Easy.
For the water pipe, put stem into 14mm downstem, put vape on top (upside down), inhale.
The Herbalaire is a great choice. The Solo stems fit inside pretty well allowing for a more efficient session (IMO).

Just to refresh my memory.....the twigs usually run hotter than the full size? Twigs heat up faster, but both are made for 24/7 operation?
Also, is it possible to upgrade the 3pk of direct draw stems to the GonG stems for the price difference?

Would not using the crucible eliminate the wasted vapor? When I had one before, you could see vapor pour out of the top. Maybe w/o the crucible, it wouldn't cook? I won't see one for a few days still, but wondering about others experience.
