Much appreciated @Xchadb. If I get a couple of customers to commit to an order on a bucket I'll be able to pull it off. I appreciate your offer. The shipping is the same whether it's 20 or 100 pieces though. So if you'd like to get in on some for yourself then let me know.
@blankrider
The blue is just regular old cobalt.
I can make one with alien tech but it would be coil potted rod not tubing so there would be clear portions as alien tech is a triple dip rod.
Total cost to get the swings here, I need to shit 150$.
As long as the seller on alibaba isn't...
He actually uses some express service. Apparently it won't take too long. Also ships in a wooden crate rather than cardboard apparently. Small wooden crate shipping is 50$ and large wooden crate shipping is 50$! Lol wtf!
Well I may have spoke too soon. The alibaba seller just got back with me. On top if having to buy them in bulk they also have a standard shipping price of 50$. Wtf??? Just don't think I'll be able to swing it anytime soon. :(
Ok guys here goes. I really hope you guys like. Just bare with me. This was my first attempt.
First I started by making a mock-up "quartz" swing out of boro.
Then I made up my dome and put a lip and a bail on it. (After a couple quick measurements)
Then I put the 2 together. (LOL I can't...
The seller on alibaba got back with me within hours. Very reasonable pricing. I have to buy them in 20pc increments to get the good pricing though. They do come with the o-rings though so that's a plus. Now I've just gotta come up with the $$$ to order them.
I looked on ebay for the 70$ buckets...
Oh I have no doubt. @blankrider and I were just saying earlier that it's an awful simple piece for the prices on them to be so damned inflated. I wanna offer them at a more affordable rate. This somewhat hinges upon properly sourcing the quartz swing buckets.
Hey guys, I've been getting a handful of requests for these mothership-esque honey buckets. What id like to know is, who all would be interested in seeing me do something like these? Or more importantly buying them! Lol
I ask because the quartz is gonna be a pretty big up front cost for me and...
For sure. It's not as easy as the customer thinks 95% of the time. I'm just now starting to figure out how to bend tubing. I'm also working on pulling more consistant color tubes. The shit that seems the simplest is most times the most difficult.
3 holes is actually quite hard to do. Once one is blown you loose your back pressure so the other ones have to be picked. And picking a small hole is kind of a bitch. I need to get a good tungsten pick so I can just heat drill them. Yes I make slides and domes.
