The hammer top from w9 tech does have circuit protection. The sr71 is more powerful. Sr74 is more user friendly. As far as the way they function, same. Same concept/idea on both. Go on you tube and look for Gary's videos. They show you how to assemble the hercules correctly.

On the sr74 I have about a 12-16 second warm up from a cold start. Single coil loaded on the heavy side. After the initial warm up it produces vapor almost instantly after a few puffs.

Both have to be spring loaded for best connection. U can remove the bottom insulator and screw the stainless steel cylinders directly into the 8 to see if the bottom insulator is causing problems.
