I called them and the fellow told me to mail it in and he will fix whatever is wrong with it for a flat fee of $25. He said that the heating rod was bombproof and rarely goes out. He was thinking it was the knob -it goes out much more often than the ceramic ever does. Cool.

I know the answer is probably somewhere in this thread, but... Does the element wear out eventually? I don't seem to get the hit that I used to and it seems like only the top half of the ceramic glows red. Do they need to be replaced eventually? I leave mine on for hours...
