The only courier close to me is Fed Ex, and I'm shipping from Europe. But I found out the local mail service here works with Parcel Force, so I'm going there now to see if they will do tracked. EDIT: They do! I paid £21 ($32), not exactly cheap, but much better than Fedex, UPS etc.

I sent DaVinci an e-mail with pictures of the defects as soon as I received my Ascent last Friday. I requested a refund by e-mail on Saturday after thorough inspection of the unit. I have still not received any response from DaVinci. I'm also kinda cheesed off that we have to pay return...

I will say this: the old Macbooks allowed the battery to be removed by the user, and it could be used with just the charger in order to preserve the life of the battery. The new Macbooks do not allow the user to remove the battery, or to bypass the battery in any way.

Is it really that hyper-observant, to notice that an "all glass" vapor path includes a rubber seal, several mm of which appears to be exposed to the vapor?

That's exactly what I'm getting at, whether the rubber seal is part of the vapor path.

For me that is the issue. And even if the seal does not spill over, I believe it may still be possible for the vapor to come into contact with the silicone, therefore negating the "all glass vapor path".
