    Discontinued Thermovape Luna

Excellent! That's the spirit, please do let us know what you find. TIA I think the story is while there were some discussions, a right buyer/conditions didn't happen. Which I take to mean that there is still a slim chance, but getting slimmer over time? Bummer, but it's the sharp part of...

    Discontinued Thermovape Luna

As a material I think it has a good chance, but since I've never seen it I can't guess how you'd use it. Perhaps the fellow who suggested it might? Seems to me off hand it's too thick and narrow for the job? That is you'd have to grind flats on it (not at all easy if fired, generally done...

    Discontinued Thermovape Luna

As true ceramic it will have been "fired" to something well over 1600F in order for the individual particles of the clay to "sinter" together into a single piece. This is past red into orange heat wise. Nichrome definitely gets this hot, it's what makes the heaters in the kilns for heaven's...

    Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

Yes, while Ed has a loyal following with the Solo guys, there seem to be some serious fans of his Ascent stems as well. They are not shy, either, expect at least some of them to contribute. I don't have an Ascent version, but if my Solo one is any indication it's a fine product indeed...

Is it even ceramic? The only airstone I have sure looks like (the traditional) bonded sand to me. If it's quartz sand (most likely IMO) I think that should be OK (basically glass.....) but the bonder gives me pause as does coloring agents. We're no doubt talking a low cost product from China...

    Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

Yes, I think that's exactly the case. Like having a 200 Hp car but only using 75 Horses to motor down the highway of life, the extra capacity is just not used in such cases. No sin to have it I guess. This is 'not uncommon', for instance the factory Solo PA is much larger (in capacity) than...

    Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

I know what it says on the Wall Wart and all but I seriously doubt that spec. I've never measured over one Amp, let alone anything close to 3. Look at the recharge times, four hours for a nominal 2.2 Ah battery? A bit over half an Amp is probably enough to recharge the Ascent. FWIW the...

Now how, exactly, would you know how dodgy the folks I know are? Thanks for the recommendation, I'm fairly confident of the facts I relate here and the folks I know........ OF

    Discontinued Thermovape Luna

IIRC Cera (and Revolution/DART)) gets to about 1400F, worst case. How hot do e-cigs go? Yeah, it scares me. I know people that do lots of dodgy things I can't recommend, but this one stands out to me, the ceramic seems a much better idea. Not taking the cart apart in the first place seems...

WOW! Right on! Well done, Pak. Take the rest of the day off, vape something tasty....... Thanks for putting it so simply. OF

    Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

Understood, but those were the agreed to terms of the sale. I get it that it's unfortunate you might live far away, but am not sure it's fair for the other customers to cover the additional costs there. We all agree to cover our own costs, expecting 'them' to cover yours just means everyone...

Really? You're sure the glue used is safe, especially at the temperatures we're talking about? What sort of adhesive is used? I honestly don't know, but I bet it doesn't meet FDA requirements? OF

    Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. This is not unique to vapes, of course, but when your warranty cost exceeds more than a few percent of 'cost of goods sold' you're in deep trouble. That's the way it works. And "clean it up a bit and re sell it" is not how it works, that is strictly...

    Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

Exactly so. More over, since every return wipes out the profit from many others, I think it's a very safe thing to say that the average customer has not had any issue worthy of return. In fact, the majority? Forums like this, with self selected 'experts', is a most unreliable way to estimate...

    Discontinued Thermovape Luna

I bought mine from McMaster Carr. .035 inches (.9mm) is the correct size. Problems taking it apart could well be other than wrench fit, they can get quite stuck (especially when cold). You have to be very careful with force, there's less than one full thread on the screw engaging the sleeve...

    Arizer Solo

This is not without risk. When I tried it (some time back) I found it slipped down a bit 'on it's own', even without a ring installed. I figured it as 'no big deal' and shimmed the back of the battery cover to make a snug fit. I thought I was on to something until the whole inside slid out...

    Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

OK, there are two separate health concerns here. First is the catalyst, the cheaper and easier to use ones are toxic (or at least have health issues). Shifting to 'safe' versions is what makes it food grade. What catalyst leaches to the surface is benign. The second issue is one of...

Planet Vape is in Canada, sells the right type rings cheap and includes them with new units they sell. I recommend them as they have an excellent price ($160 shipped), excellent service and are a strong supporter of these Forums. OF

They are intended to grip the bent stem enough to keep it from rotating in use. They also have the effect of reducing the airflow past the stem seal as the seal loosens up (some find a negative). I don't think you can honestly say they fix any design flaws since the maker does not consider...
