FWIW i did push my screen onto the heater a few times (at least 3), using S&B capsules and not being careful enough, and the only damage caused was a burnt hole in the heater screen otherwise the unit still worked perfectly (once the screen out of the heater obviously, héhé) :2c:

If I understand correctly your issue I think you just have to tighten your too ring a little more. As @Siebter said above, there is some play but it should should once the top ring is enough screwed.
