I wouldn't recommend that as Q-Tips use adhesive on the cotton. The adhesive could be harmful to vaporize. I would recommend using a bamboo skewer with some cotton from a cotton ball, and use the skewer to push the cotton up and down the stem. Then when it's relatively clean push the cotton...
