I agree, I keep mine on 7 also and this baby gets real real hot sometimes. Small wonder the wood splits. LOL I don't leave mine on 24/7 or anything but it is on for hours at a time. Since I just got it and the novelty hasn't worn off, it's on 8 or 10 hours in a row.

Color is very much strain dependent. Pressing too hot or too long will always darken whatever you have but from what I have pressed, I found strain to be the biggest factor in color. His press looks little 'waxy'. Mine gets like that if I press at real low temps. Nice looking. :)
