Unfortunately my experience with capping ABV is limited to reading about it here. Maybe @Enchantre can help us with this. My own abv/reclaim/errl brownies had almost zero discernible flavors that didn't belong. And definitely zero backdraft.

Another suggestion, for those who do not like the taste of abv is to put in capsules. This will also make for easy dosing.

The ball lifts when you hit it. Allowing some water to come into the bottom of the perc. I believe it acts like a Venturi effect. The vapor rushing past the hole creates a suction that lifts the ball and circulates the water.

Shatter by its nature is typically not de carbed. Once de carbed it tends to be more of a sap consistency. For edibles, you will want to decarb the concentrate to change the THC to THCA which is more bioavailable thAn THC. If using reclaim or ABV, that step is already done.
