@bigmouth, not upon first turning it on. As it's getting close to the target temp (let's say 20-30 seconds before hitting the target temp, but that's a swag).

Tonight I tried the Atwater Hop-A-peal. I like some of the Atwater beers but this one left me cold. It was on draft and I had been assured that it was refreshing. Not to me. Tasted like someone had run a marathon and then drained their armpit hair into a glass. The orange was so off-base for me...

    Sorry, @Mr. Me2 , you've probably said before...which one fits the Crafty?

It does have a bit of a smell when stored (certainly if you store it loaded). In my case, the drawer it goes into gives off a bit of a smell when it is opened. However, I do not put it in any sort of smell-proof container, so bad on me. There is also a smell when using it. As it heats up...

I think you need to add a Cascadia engraving to those beauties!

Managed to try the last Bell's Planet series today. Neptune. It's called a "Mystic Stout." It's an imperial stout with a bunch of adjuncts. http://bellsbeer.com/planets/neptune/ There is a lot of shit going into this stout. It sounds more complex than it is (to me...maybe my taste buds suck)...

OK, I'm familiar with sampling because I'm a beer snob. What the hell are you talking about with respect to MJ? Can you go somewhere and get a pinch to test? Or, is this an MMJ option. Sorry, I don't live in CO, OR, or WA and can't fathom what you're talking about. I get the "available" strain...

Got a chance to try Dogfish ahead Amercan Beauty on tap. To me, it had the nose of a Pilsner, as well as that "soft" quality that a good Pilsner has (exemplified by the velvety smoothness of a Pilsner Urquell enjoyed at the brewery). Not sure if that is the intent but it's a great combination...

I like the thermal protection that the mica provides. But...I'm a complete moron with a torch. My basic looks like a burn unit victim. I have no stress when using the mica and I've had no issues. If you're confident with a torch and want to save money, go for the basic. I'll be sticking with the...

I'm with @steama. I bought fresh MFLB batteries just prior to getting the Vapman. I've never used the MFLB since. It wins on stealth but loses on flavor, efficiency, and effectiveness (in my opinion).

Discontinued The Persei Vaporizer for herbs and concentrates.

Is there a compelling reason to get a Bender? Love the hell out of the Herc but it sounds like the Bender has a steeper learning curve than a typical herb vape. Is there something about it that would make it a worthy competitor to a Vapman and a Crafty (and...someday [maybe]...a Grasshopper)...

Interesting. I've never thought of the Vapman as particularly fragile. I'm sure @vapman would be horrified at the way I treat his creation but she just keeps delivering.

I rotate between a Crafty and Vapman. Depends on the stealth requirements of the moment. Vapman is faster but the sound and smell of the torch can be an issue for me. On the whole, Vapman probably gets a bit more use. If I'm looking at multiple loads, it's Vapman all the way.

I'm just hoping that the GH doesn't contribute to man boobs like ipa's reportedly do. Don't need a double whammy.

I can't say I've had a great deal of experience with lighters. My first VM was purchased through one of the bigger online shops and the lighter that came with it was crap. I tried several expensive torches that were also junk. When the time is right, I'll be buying another VM lighter.

If stealth isn't a big issue and you don't go all Frankenstein when seeing flame, the Vapman is an excellent choice. Hits hard and fast and uses tiny amounts.

Personally, I'd skip the liquid pad. From my experience, it just makes the hits more harsh.
