Check to see if there is any fraying around the cord itself . That's what happened to mine , it got charged some of the time . How old is your battery ? I needed a new one after 13 months . It just wouldn't hold the charge anymore . Hope that helps .

the stems will loosen up with usage . for now , try twisting or unscrewing when removing the stem . hope that helps .
