I find the battery meter very useful. I often accidentally leave a discharged battery in there, means I can check the rough status of the one in there quickly and easily before taking the Air somewhere to use for a bit. If it's on red when I pick it up I can quickly swap out the dead battery...

Practice and experiment with everything. That has worked wonders for me. Six months in with the Air and it's still getting better all the time, mostly thanks to a lot of good folk on this site.
