How many heat cycles was that? The hotter and wider the heat source the less it will heat up the tip before it clicks which is counter intuitive. I would recommend heating past the click slightly and seeing what results you get. Start with 1-1.5 seconds past the click and see how it goes.

Some older stems have new life, SS liners and are available in my Etsy now.

Here's some older stems and bodies I reworked this morning as well as some new ones. I relined the older pieces with a thin wall SS tubing to make them less susceptible to wear and make cleaning easier. Originally they were chunky so I slimmed them down.
