I have had the same happen in my EVO. Although the only time it did I put just kief in the elb and inserted it to quickly. So i'm assuming some of the kief came out and flash vaporized down on the bamboo.

My EVO works the dams whistle or no whistle. And all that cotton or whatever you put on the bottom is doing Is restricting airflow. If you can't stand the whistle just don't pull as hard.
