In the long term that's true that running them low will shorten their capacity. But if the battery gauge or electronics need to know the full voltage scale of the battery then I can see it being of benefit.

Concentrates are hard to judge, you can try melting a bit on foil to test how clean they are. But when buying them I usually look for the lightest yellow I can find, it's usually pretty good! :tup:
