If you use high heat, ie a large red hot spot, you're going to shorten the life of the hot plate and possibly char the wood. You'll have to decide if that's worth it. I hesitate to offer an oil option for the same reason.

Don't try to take the bowl out. It will void the warranty and you'll wreck it. It's pressed into the stem, not screwed in. Pliers and wrenches will bend the bowl. You could pull it out using a lathe or mill but it would still void the warranty. Or am I too late?

For those many people curious about the finishes on the vapor cap: the natural one is oiled with Danish Oil, the painted vapor cap with an alkyd paint, which is a standard high quality oil based paint. I don't know what the chemistry of the alkyd paint is, except that lead was removed from it...

We originally had a finer screen on the Lotus but people said that it clogged too quickly. Go figure.:shrug:

Thanks for making the new thread! I can't believe how quickly and thoroughly people have responded. We've been struggling to find quality J hooks and overnight all these options were found. Totally impressed.

They both cool the vapor but the long stem is easier to use if you have issues focusing close up.

You're right on the frowning. You could easily overheat the hot plate and also scorch the wood frame where it touches the hot plate. Other than that, it is fun to vape a small load in an instant.

You can carefully bend the stir stick without breaking the vapor cap or stir stick.

If magnets magically appeared on your WPA, would you want them just strong enough that the vapor cap wouldn't fall off the WPA when it's tilted sideways, or would you want them strong enough that you could lift the WPA out of the glass downstem? If the magnets were the latter, it would take 2...

Be careful about using a dual flame torch and overheating your Lotus (though it is instant vaporization). The Lotus was designed for a single flame torch.
