I am just curious about the pressure #'s because he is the only one with a gauge. I would not be at all surprised if you are reaching tons of pressure with your smaller vise @CrazyDiamond. Thread designs are pretty universal imo. ;)

Anyone got any leads on some fc2000 wick that is thicker than 1/8" ? I found a link on youtube showing some 1/4" fc2000 but my google foo is coming up short finding a seller for it.

You may be right also. I made sure they were very flat but I am not set up to make things polished yet. I'd bet if we were looking at a cross section under a microscope, it probably looks like a mountain range. ;)

I think it's the 16,000 pounds of pressure (12,000 extra) messing with the paper. Polished blocks may help with the pattern left, but I don't think it is going to stop oil from being pushed through the paper at those pressures. My opinion anyways. ;) It happens even with baby smooth...

@BoogerMan , Maybe try pressing just parchment and see if the jaw get any new "material" on it again? I'd like to see what just the parchment looks like after 5-10tons without herb oil?

I think most people that can't answer a question, don't post. I don't know exactly how you would run enough current through the vice itself, to heat it, without being dangerous and shorting out through your oil? I don't think anyone has tried it.
