Could you not make a rosin type vacuum "space bag" of sorts.. The press don't need to be in the vacuum, just the bud. :)

I can tell you that my old parchment paper could not with stand 10 tons of pressure from using my hydraulic press. Even cold, the bud pushed through the paper.

@2clicker , You might find that 2 of those black industrial bungy straps hooked to one side of your blocks, then taken under your press and hooked to the other side of the blocks might be enough to compress it back down?
