for me re-filling in general will get leakier with time nut slowly. Some carts are leakier than others, some concentrates are leakier than others. There is a lot of variation and like Vito says it's a feel. The feel comes from practice and observation. Generally if a cart was a big leaker...

That looks like a chipped ceramic bowl to me. Certainly doesn't look like the stainless bowl models. I have an M104 chipped as do others that looks just like that. I will email Steve at Arizer and ask him for clarification. Please contribute to the wiki if you have time, I could use some help...
