Yeah, the inner tube is full of water too and the vapor has to percolate down and then back up.

Well then you haven't tried calcium chloride... this dessicant will literally pull water out of anything. If you let it sit in the open air it will soon turn into a puddle as it sucks the moisture out of the air.... put some in a sealed container with the thing you want to dry, and it will dry...
