You are right! I have vertical grooves you can visibly see and on my copper shredder one it is smooth finish. I even switched the friction rings and that didn't do a thing to help. Email sent to SCS, hopefully this is a painless process.

That doesn't look like matte to me. To my knowledge Matte finish shredders have the solid white letterimg scs logo while the glossy have the outlined logo.
