You insert the gong when the air is heating up. It is made to fit even when the air is not hot. I don't think it is worth it for the gong. I have a regular vortex stem that I like a lot tho. They are made thicker than stock. I am going to buy a regular gong soon

I got a vortex air gong and the only con is it has just one glass nub on it so it is a bit annoying to pull when clearing. I would go with a regular one if I buy another.
