If the goal of their software is to ensure that the contents of the bowl is never heated above 400 f, that does not preclude the heater, itself, getting above 400 f. And, if something touches or gets closer to that heating element than it's supposed to, that could be a source of combustion, IMHO.

I'd love to see a comparative review of this versus the firefly by someone who has used both.

Just tried that now. No visible clouds, but at least I was able to get a lungful of something. :-) And that something was medicated. Not what I was hoping for, but functional. However, I'm not sure I could 100% recommend someone go out and buy one (especially at the current price.)
