I am finicky about this, and I would safely say no! It will degrade the smell/tast ever so slightly to put a fresh bowl in and leave it, but within reason timewise, it won't just vape away. The temp in the joint where the ELB and herb go, is too low to kill it; you have to be pulling air through...
