Clean up the 510 connector with ISO and QTip. Any containment like finger grease can cause minor ohm fluctuations. And make sure it's screwed on tight. Ohm fluctuations are generally connection issues as high current/low DC voltage causes some weird side effects when not tight. Higher voltage...

This is interesting indeed...? Maybe this is "before" a few power bursts to break in the coil?

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

If anyone, that is currently on my list, feels the same way about only using at home, shoot me a PM. Home only units I can make up now. However, I'm not comfortable with using in the car unless direct wired with inline fuse. So officially, I'm not recommending it as an advertised option. ;)

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

Hey guys, as @Andreaerdna mentioned, the use of an on-board battery power system seems to make more and more sense. After the car adapter testing, the realization of how much power we need hits home. Even using for short bursts requires a hefty supply to keep up. The supply I have been testing...

Also note, a brand spanking new coil does need breaking in. If only trying to get to vaping temp without breaking in, it will appear the resistance is coming down some each heat up. Because it is... I give the new coils a couple good burst of 30 watts power mode to get a good bright glow for 2-3...

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

Too funny. Had a chuckle reading this as it brought back memories of standing around the old stove waiting for your turn at the hot knives in the 70s, now, 40 years later, I can see everyone standing around a new stove poking their VCs against the surface. Some things never change much...lol

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

Yes, one could. However, you'll find the complexity getting up there. Ideally, we want a delay that is settable between 0 and 15 second type thing. Could set it to forget about the click. I tried a simple delay on the input of the FET. Charge capacitor and have it discharge through a...

Your into the fun stuff. First, ensure you have the boost turned off. To pretty much kill the preheat, try the P value up to 1600. Slows down the initial heat up but minimized the oscillations. However, I like the little burst to get the herb warmed up quicker. This is where preference comes...

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

So far I have just been using the coil that comes with the device. Never actually measured but around 1mm thick so 18 AWG? However, I do have an order for this coming as well as some sleeving to play with. Wow, you've got lots of ideas about this pup. Love it. I opted for the simple tactile...

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

Absolutely NOT. The driving coil continues to climb in temperature even without a target to heat. It only takes a couple minutes to become hot enough to start smoking the enamel on the wire as it begins to burn off. I found the more you focus the eddie lines the more current it takes idle. The...

If those are the numbers you used with the Mini, should be good with the Cuboid. Temperature numbers seem a little low, but you'll figure that out quick enough. Likely more like 530 - 560F. Or somewhere inbetween.

It would depend on the heating element material. The material needs to have a reasonable temperature coefficient. Stainless steel is very popular it seems these days. Materials like Kanthal do not have enough resistance change to work with.

TC Box Mods Firmware Discussions and Customizing

Hey Guys/Gals. Opening this thread to have a spot to discuss and pool our knowledge regarding best firmware options to alter existing box mods to better suit our vaping needs. There seems to be more and more 510 based vaporizers coming to market in our world here. The TC technology is still new...

Of course it is.... I can't see the wire you want there. The closest is this one, but is SS304 and diameter is .4mm which is like a 26 AWG. Twisting 2 or 3 wires together would likely do but never played that route. Not a huge difference between 316 and 304 for our application. Again...

Using Sony VTC4s, nothing overly special. 2000 mAhs factory rated. Not new neither. Doing the math works out, as like you say, we are only using for short bursts. Informative video here about inductive DIYing.

Bummer. Yes, your link is the correct piece. Not the cheapest place but if delivery speed is important. My concern is the condition of the Mods threat as well. Hopefully, won't just cause the same frustration again with new ego adapter. Might be worth it to get a 510 heat sink to take the Mods...

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

Your questions are right on! The idea of using the heater for a different convection vape is something that I'm sure will be tried down the road somewhere. Encasing the metal in glass would make for a purer heat source. An interesting project with lots of bugs to work out but is a feasible one...
