I use the whip, and it definitely doesn't take 5 minutes for vapor to appear. If you draw hard, and you can use the fan too, you should get more vapor. I'd contact tech support if I were you. And it goes without saying, but the herb should be quality of course.

Does the Gr8tr with the coarse plate result in a medium grind?

Hmm, thanks for the tip. I think if the Extreme Q baskets are that fragile, then I'll just go with the MiniVAP baskets. I can afford it, at least for now :P
