No, you'll still need the cap, what you're thinking of is a different tech. You can use it in a similar way, drawing on it while it's heating but it will be more conduction as it normally is rather than convection like with the woodscents.

If we compare 2 of the best batteries in both sizes, 21700 has about 50% more capacity with higher CDR. There are a few more factors to consider in this application so it won't be as good as 1.5 x 18650 but it's not too far off.

It could work with the auto sensing no problem, but not with the current temperature sensing solution :( Different attachments are still possible, even without having an open chamber. Let’s leave this feature for the next device ;)

No, it can’t be done with the Sense, the sensor is below the cap. The goal with the Sense is to control the heating precisely and conveniently, so I feel this would be a step back having to hold it at an exact place instead of just leaving it in the chamber with your set preferences.
