I don't believe the inlet holes were intended to be carbs. They are intended as the entry point for intake air. While it is a novel approach, it does not need to be carbed for best results.

Might I suggest that neither hole be blocked as a "carb" if you are having combustion events. My new LB is quite consistent with regard to performance. Your reference is the first I have read about the air inlets being utilized in this fashion.
