Are you using bowl or capsule mode? For bowl mode you just unscrew the wood ring on top that holds the ceramic disc and capsule in place. Then slide the bottom wood panel off - do it slowly so you don't lose the silver wire 'spring' - and take the ceramic elbow piece out. I always have trouble...
