Are you saying you don't have to adjust the knob to turn the unit off, or just that you can leave it on all the time? I have always found judging distance in knobs (water faucets for instance) to be challenging personally.

I'm thinking about buying an SSV but I do have one concern. Since there are no markers on the knob or unit how easy is it to return to your favorite temp every time? I knew someone whose main complaint was that he had to play with it a bit before he got back to his preferred temp. He might have...

Well I mean it's definitely underperforming, but it's most likely something I did wrong. Just trying to figure it out. I don't know how to check the resistance of the rod. I am not using the batteries that came with the Persei but the ones recommended for the Herc.
