We have been trying to locate a Canadian retailer, so far with no luck. One of our customers mentioned that there are no duties on the Lotus due to NAFTA and because it's made in the US. I know it doesn't help with the conversion rate though.

Both WPA and pipe bowls are both the same size, just over 12.5 mm. We don't have any numbers on the difference in heat-up times with the old and new spacer rings. We have just developed a vaping machine to test this kind of thing but have not yet run the experiment.

We have upgraded the Lotus Black Cap so it runs hotter. This spacer is half the width of the former spacer, absorbs less heat from the hot plate and transfers less heat to the wood frame. The spacer is fully interchangeable with the older one shown.

@cwheezy We now have screens available similar to your fix. They are available on our website http://lotusvaporizer.com/debris-screen-for-vapor-cap/ as a retrofit. We have also been installing them on all caps shipped starting this week.

We'll have screens available in 3 weeks that are sized to fit and hold inside the cap. Thanks to @nemo and others for the idea.

We have not had any complaints about fumes from paint and painted were sold for 3+ years. We will not be having a sale this Memorial Day as the company is having a 2 week vacation starting this weekend.

In addition to what @bukster said, there are also long pipe cleaners available at craft stores and smoke shops.
