+1 for the nice custom set-up above. I also prefer smaller mouthpieces, this is the one i'm using currently. Much flatter than the standard bulb and with a longer taper.

Got to say, these days i have been using a GG HC with a straight bore and the VapeXhale ELB's. Its pretty superb, i stick the cap on there too and crank the temps up a little (less thermal mass, the bud sis suspended in the ELB essentially, no glass to bud contact).

Could you snap a picture of your HC and the gap between it and the screws, also try and get one of the heater position in relation to the HC wand connection - it sounds like your gap is normal (3mm?) but the heater seems to still be sitting too low.
