Sorry I clearly misread what they may have mistyped. I read it as 230C. While the oven gets up to 245C, the outer casing doesn't get nearly that hot. @SixStringToker I don't think you are out of line at all. Your experience is pretty extreme so far. Hope they sort you out ASAP.

PBT is an odd choice, but they did confirm that it's good for the temperatures that it receives. They answered 230C so that's that. The "older style" tanks you have- were those the black oring or the white? Seems like the black oring ones had more problems than the white.
